If you have not yet started to prepare your landscaping for warm weather, now is the perfect time to start! Try upgrading your outdoor space in all or some of the following categories to take full advantage of the warm weather.
Some plants are biological inclined to thrive in warm weather. Different plants like Carolina Allspice, Hydrangeas and Oleander will come into full bloom in the summer — plus, they require very little care! These are the perfect types of plants if you want something to brighten your space and make your outdoor arrangement much more curb appealing. While an abundance of sunlight makes it so that practically any plant can live in the summer, you must be dedicated to keep it alive. If you cannot keep up with regular watering, then make sure you choose a plant that can survive in the hot temperatures.
If you live in an area that has warm weather all year ‘round, installing a pool may be a great landscaping option for you. Not only is a pool functional and entertaining for all ages, it is also beautiful to look at. However, sometimes people tend to overlook the scenery around the pool; when choosing to install a pool, make sure to pay attention to the plants that surround the area. Choose plants that are free of berries, flowers and thorns because you do not want those to end up in the pool water. Also, avoid installing a pool near large trees, otherwise the pool will be entirely shaded most times of the day. Once the pool is installed, you also have the option of purchasing additional improvements such as pool chairs, ornamental lighting or other decorations to make the space your own.
If you feel like your indoor space is lacking, you can always install a deck or patio in order to provide a little extra space for entertainment and parties. Decks and patios can be relatively cheap to install, but they add great value to your home. To save money, you can also attempt to build the patio yourself. Although this not a simple DIY project, it can be done if you have the proper tools, the power of the Internet, and the right attitude (and a little bit of carpentry experience doesn’t hurt, either!) If you want something a little bit more complex, intricate and large, you may want to consider hiring a professional to do the work for you. Once the patio and deck are built, it’s a no-brainer to purchase add-ons like a grill, seating area or potted plants in order to spruce up your lot.
If your yard receives a lot of sun during the daytime, consider installing a gazebo. Gazebos can be ornate and intricate or simple and elegant; choose one that matches the exterior décor that already exists on your lawn. You can purchase a gazebo at most home improvement stores and install them yourself. The price ranges, but you can find them for as low as $100 if you prefer something very simple.
In the summer, you may feel like you need a little bit more privacy. What better way to obtain this privacy than to install a fence? Just like a gazebo, there are plenty of options for fences, which means you have the option to really choose one that fits your needs. If functionality is of critical importance for you, then a chain link fence may be your best option. Conversely, if you are looking for a lot more privacy, you may want to consider installing a tall wood fence. The price range of fences varies greatly though, so you should check with a variety of professionals to obtain different estimates before getting your fence installed.
To add some extra flair and style to your front or backyard, consider installing a stone pathway. These paths can be a great focal point in your yard, but they also serve many functional purposes. For instance, you can use the path to direct people up to your front door, out to your garden or even out to your pool. Stone pathways are definitely something that you can install yourself and they can be relatively inexpensive as well (depending on the type of stone you choose to use.)
A fire pit is great for those summer nights when all you want to do is relax and make some s’mores. You can install a fire pit in the yard or purchase one that you can move around and place wherever you need it. Fire pits range in size, color, price and design. Like everything else, be sure to your research before purchasing one.
